With the introduction of the Bianchi Oltre RC, the Italian bicycle manufacturer made their fastest road bike until now. Compared to their own Oltre RX4, the Oltre RC has 30% advantages. Bianchi calls it the hyperbike concept.
A completely new Bianchi design
The Oltre Reparto Corse (RC) is Bianchi’s race department. The place where since 1885, bicycles have been designed and where innovation is the driving force. The Oltre RC is built with Bianchi’s signature high-modulus carbon fibre, which makes the bike lightweight yet incredibly strong. The aero-shaped frame improves its aerodynamics and allows it to slice through the air with ease.
Aero cockpit and Air Deflector
With the new aero cockpit and exclusive Air Deflector technology, the reduction of drag against the frame makes the Oltre RC more aerodynamic than its predecessors. Although the handlebar shows some similarities with the Cervélo S5 the Air Deflector is patent pending technology. As you can see in the image, the airflow is guided not only around the headtube of the bicycle but also through the opening. Creating a reduced area of low pressure directly behind the headtube. When the wind changes, the air deflector technology kicks in and makes it easier for the body and bike to pass through the air.
Seatpost and Saddle
With an aerodynamic Seatpost and a 3D-designed RC139 carbon saddle, the elite riders have the ultimate strength and weight. The padding of the saddle is constructed using cutting-edge technology. Together with the cockpit and air deflector, the Bianchi Oltre RC save 17.1 watts at 50 km/h and achieves a 45-second advantage over a distance of 40km with a rider’s power output of 250 watts.
New wheel designs for Oltre RC
Not only is the frame designed from the ground up, but also the new RC50 and RC65 SPDtech wheels are stiff and super reactive. With a weight of 1540 grams, the set of carbon wheels finishes the Oltre RC. The rolling resistance, stiffness and design were the main priorities of the design department of Bianchi.
