What is Revonte One? In short a drive system for e-bikes. But that is too short for this revolutionary drive system invented in Finland. Otto Chrons and Iiro Peltola joined forces to create something for the future.
Powerful drive system for e-bikes
E-bikes have a drive system that goes further than a normal bike. A motor is added and a battery is the “fuel” of the motor. Then you need a gear hub to transport the power of the motor to the wheels. Front motors are relatively easy, a middle motor needs a chain or belt and gear hub to make the rear wheel spin. Rear-wheel motors are most of the time equipped with a derailleur. These components are used to give e-bikes the power we are used to.
But as you noticed there are quite some components used for a drive system. Companies like Bafang, Bosch, Fazua, Mahle or Shimano make batteries, motors, and controllers. Enviolo, Pinion, and Shimano make gear hubs. Gates or Shimano make the belts or chains. Besides Shimano, there isn’t a company that makes a fully integrated drive system for e-bikes. The Revonte One is a fully integrated drive system. Motor, battery, stepless gear hub, belt, and mobile app are developed and designed to work closely together.
What is Revonte One?
Let me say that I didn’t ride on a bike with the Revonte drive system. So I have learned about their system through blogposts on the Revonte website. But I can tell you what the Revonte One is based on that information.
With the Revonte One e-bike drive system, you have a 200Nm torque and 2Kw peak power motor. To place that in context, the Bosch Cargo Line motor has an 85Nm torque, and a Stromer ST5 motor (which is pretty powerful) has 850 W output. But it doesn’t stop with power. The Revonte One motor has built-in GPS, Bluetooth, and 4G which makes it possible to use a mobile phone to control the motor and drive system. Theft alarm and tracking, configuration, diagnostics, updates, ride analytics, sharing, service record, and more. It’s all there.

If it still sounds a bit abstract no worries. In the animation video below Revonte One transmission is explained.
When is Revonte One available?
Like all manufacturers in the bike industry, the pandemic hits Revonte too. Nevertheless, they are aiming for 2022 on delivering the first drive systems. Their longtime collaborators EAV and Lavelle bikes will probably be the first with this revolutionary e-bike drive system. Exciting times ahead.
