The Merida 2021 line-up of the eONE-SIXTY carbon will be powered by the new EP8 motor from Shimano. This new power unit delivers a maximum power output of 85 Nm. Paired with the new 630 Wh battery, the new EP8 system delivers a huge range extension, making it easier to cruise for longer or do more runs.
eONE-SIXTY MTB-bike performance.
The eONE-SIXTY MTB-bike has bigger tyres and comfortable geometry then a ‘normal’ mountain bike. Starting from the ground up the eONE-SIXTY range comes with Maxxis tyres and DT Swiss rims. The Shimano breaks and rotors give you maximum break control. Together with the Shimano XTR Shadow+ rear derailleur the EP8 motor and Shimano battery give you the ultimate support to ride up any hill you like. And when you are at the top the suspension front fork and shock from Fox give you the smooth ride down.

Shimano EP8 vs Bosch Performance Line CX 2020 motor
The Shimano EP8 motor on the Merida eONE-SIXTY has lost approx. 300 g in weight. Further improved is the heat-resistance in conjunction with the new Thermo Gate in the frame enables the battery to perform at its best. If we look at the predecessor of the Shimano EP8, the Steps E8000 not only the weight has improved the torque has increased by 21%. When we compare the torque based on the numbers the Bosch Performance Line CX 2020 motor has 75 Nm, the Shimano EP8 has 85 Nm torque.
The pedalling resistance of the EP8 has been reduced by 36% That reduced friction isn’t just a benefit for pedalling but also has a positive effect on power consumption.
