In our Scandinavian mobility companies trilogy, we would like to introduce the Cake Åik. Other than Danish MATE Bike, Vässla and Cake are coming from Sweden. For some reason, the designs of the three Scandinavian companies look different than for instance German or Dutch e-bike companies. The bicycle market relies on parts from global third-party component manufacturers. But designs of frames and what components are being used depending on the mobility companies’ philosophy.

What is the Cake Åik?

The Cake Åik is a utility e-bike for professionals. If you have a delivery service and want to ride an electric bicycle that can max load 200 kg (bike + batteries + cyclist + cargo) just read on.

Åik is a heavy-duty transportation tool and part of the “work series.” Featuring hundreds of utility combinations to pull, stow, and carry heavy loads. The cargo bike is designed around a modular aluminum frame. In that frame, there is space for a 500W (250W nominal) power mid-motor with 100Nm of torque, up to three swappable 750Wh battery packs that deliver a pedal assist up to 25 km/h. Three batteries provide a range up to 360 km and the total battery capacity is 2250 Wh.

“The utility choice for demanding professionals” as Cake calls the Åik is expected to deliver in May 2023. Depending on the configuration and accessories starts the Åik at €6470 for the Basic :work.
