From the looks of Giant Stormguard E+, it is fair to say that this e-bike is close to what an SUV is for cars.
SUV e-bike
Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is common for cars, but the Giant Stormguard E+ has a lot of similarities with the four wheels of SUVs. The e-bike is made for daily use but doesn’t limit you to paved roads. The Stormguard E+ comes with full suspension, 100mm of travel at the front and rear absorbs road shocks and vibrations. But on the other hand, the cargo rack can carry up to 15kg so you can carry some cargo with you.
Stormguard E+ power train
Because the Giant Stormguard is an e-bike, we start with the motor and battery. The SyncDrive Pro motor is made by Yamaha and is designed for high-performance E-bike riding. The motor has a weight of 2.75kg, a torque of 85Nm, and a 400 percent support ratio. The Smart Assist technology in the SyncDrive Pro motors supports matching the rider’s needs.
Giant has placed the EnergyPak 800Wh in the frame but also added an EnergyPakPlus with an extra 250Wh. A combined battery pack from 1050Wh. With the RideDash EVO, the nicely integrated display on the handlebar, you will see ride information. Standard info like Speed, distance, battery range and Navigation. But when connecting the Giant app on your phone, heart rate and fitness can be shown on the RideDash EVO.
Automatic gear shifting
Going back to the statement that the Stormguard E+ is similar to an SUV with four wheels also has something to do with shifting gears. The Stormguard E+ has the enviolo AUTOMATiQ at the rear wheel. This little black box full of magic shifts automatically from an underdrive gear ratio to an overdrive ratio. You just set the cadence you like to paddle, and the gear hub shifts stepless for you. Quite a luxurious bike ride, especially when you know that this Giant e-bike uses a Gates Carbon belt instead of a chain. Which results in an almost silent and low-maintenance bicycle.
